X10 What to be aware of

For security and reliability reasons, LinTronic recommend wired system instead of wireless systems.

MAINS POWER LINE CARRIER (PLC)

Sending and receiving X10 signals over the mains power lines, is the most secure solution.

We suggest you send the X10 signals onto the mains power line by means of the TT455-RT-238, from a computer or an infrared remote control.

We strongly suggest you use the DIN rail based dimmers as they offer the best light control including specific light level, soft start/stop and light level memory. The DIN rail based units can easily be stored away in a closed box or a cabinet and therefore are independent of the type of mains plugs in your country.

By adding the FD10 phase couplers you not only copy the signals to all 3 phases all over your Home, you also filter off noise signals coming from your neighbour or from the supply lines.

WIRELESS REMOTE CONTROL (RadioFrequency, 433 MHz)

Most people like a quick installation operating on wireless system.

Be advised that a wireless system might get influenced/disturbed by external radio noise. In many houses ... maybe at your neighbour ... you might find an InfraRed-to-RadioFrequency converter. Such a converter is very sensitive to unwanted infrared signals from lamps, the sun, mobile phones or portable computers (IrDa) and/or plasma screens and can cause annoying RF blockage interrupting the signals.

Also we cannot guarantee the range of the RF products. Can vary from a few up to 100 meters, depending on your buildings wall contruction, etc.

If you concider installing X10 based HomeSecurity systems, make sure the remote control and wireless sensors operate on a rotating code. If the remote control/sensor use s static code, it is very easy to copy the code and tamper the system.
