AutoMutic is a special designed telephone relay used to detect telephone line status, such as:
"ringing", "conversation" and "Idle".

AutoMutic-Relay operates directly on the phone line, uses no batteries and is approved by Danish PTT / Telecom.

AutoMutic-Relay include a low-current fast-switching telephone relay activated by the current running to/from the telephone. When the phone rings the relay is activated with the same frequency as the telephones "ring" signal. When the line is busy (phone is offhook) the relay is continuously activated. When the line is free (phone is onhook) the relay is released/open.

AutoMutic can be used to provide a digital signal to your own electronics, computer, etc. to signal telephone line condition.

AutoMutic works with our TableTop-series of InfraRed Transmitter and Converter products offering a customer programmable digital input. Command 910 sends input status, when line status is changing.

Furthermore you can use the AutoMutic signals as Triggers, programming the TableTop to for example Mute the Stereo/TV when the phone rings or when ringing/conversation starts/stops on the below listed triggers:
- phone ringing - 1'st ring
- phone ringing - 2'nd ring
- phone ringing - 3'rd ring
- phone ringing - 4'th ring
- phone ringing - 5'th ring
- phone answered after ringing
- phone used to make outgoing call (offhook)
- phone not used for 2 seconds or ringing timing out (onhook)

NOTE:

Some newer telephones with memory etc. (typically using a power adaptor as power supply) only listen to the ringing signal and do not draw the normal 10-20 mA from the phone line when the phone is ringing. If you have such a telephone you need to install a "normal" telephone drawing minimum 7 mA.
